If you’re a Grab user, you should be paying attention to your GrabCoins and the 15th of every month.
Because if you haven’t noticed, your GrabRewards points have already been converted to GrabCoins as of November last year. These will start to expire from 31 July, which means you’d want to use them soon before it’s too late.
And the best time to redeem? The 15th of each month – here’s why.
What are GrabCoins?

For the uninitiated, think of GrabCoins as a loyalty rewards system – where you can earn GrabCoins through various actions on Grab.

You’ll be able to view the number of GrabCoins you stand to earn at the bottom of your order before you pay. And if you’re frequently using the Grab app to book your transport or food delivery, then it is worth looking into paying with your GXS Savings Account on the Grab app instead so you can earn even more GrabCoins.
From time to time during promotions, you might be able to earn more with specific Grab transactions such as:
- Up to 10% back using GrabFood Pickup for breakfast orders
- 5% back when you:
- order from ‘Only on Grab’ merchants
- hosting Group Orders
- Use Family Account to book rides
- Ride Premium
- Use Pet-friendly rides
What’s more, redemptions have also been made simpler.
Instead of having to accumulate a large balance before you can redeem anything, you only need a minimum of 50 GrabCoins (equivalent to S$0.10) to now go toward your next GrabFood or GrabMart order.
As for the GrabRewards points you previously had? These have been converted into GrabCoins at a 1:1 ratio and expire on 31 July 2026. GrabCoins earned from January 2026 onwards expire 6 months from when they are earned.
Why you should be watching the monthly GrabCoins Flash Sale
You can use your GrabCoins to offset your Grab spending, or redeem them for vouchers with Grab or Grab’s partner merchants.
However,if you want the most value, then the best deals take place every 15th of the month, when Grab holds its monthly GrabCoins Flash Sale.
For instance, when you redeem your GrabCoins at any other time of the month, you’ll see these:

But when you redeem on the 15th during the monthly GrabCoins Flash Sale? The number of coins you’ll need can drop drastically.
April’s upcoming sale, for instance, features up to 60% off GrabFood and Grab Ride vouchers. This means that a $10 GrabFood voucher (for tea-time orders from 2-5PM) that would otherwise cost 5,000 GrabCoins to redeem now only requires 2,000!

What’s more, you can sometimes also score up to 30% off vouchers at partner merchants such as Capitaland, Sheng Siong, or Guardian during the Flash Sale.

It is worth timing your redemptions around this, because during the Flash Sale, we’ll be able to redeem vouchers for food and transport at a fraction of their usual GrabCoins cost!
As a Grab user myself, I’ll be opening the app to browse the curated selection of monthly deals during this period to see what I can redeem with my GrabCoins.
For instance, instead of the $102.60 value that my GrabCoins currently have I can bump this up to $160 by redeeming various high value vouchers like $10 GrabFood and ride vouchers!
The deals refresh every month, so what’s available now might differ from the time you read this.
Conclusion
GrabRewards points has been relaunched as GrabCoins, so make sure to check your app to see how many GrabCoins you have and use them before they expire.
The best way to redeem them would be during the monthly GrabCoins Flash Sale, where it’ll get me more value for my buck.
Otherwise, you can also offset any GrabFood, GrabMart, or Grab ride transaction with a minimum of just 50 GrabCoins (S$0.10).
To earn more GrabCoins, you can make orders from brands that are only on Grab or host Group Orders — these can be stacked alongside other promo codes or free delivery vouchers you may have!

So is the monthly GrabCoins Flash Sale really worth your coins? I’d say yes.
You can save up to 60% OFF your vouchers, which is way better than letting your coins expire in your wallet. Hoarding isn’t the move here, spending them during the sale is to get the most out of it.
