How do you save when flying on budget airlines?

I wrote a post previously (on the blog) on how I save whenever I fly by choosing budget airlines (especially for short haul flights within Asia) and my hacks on how to get lower prices on them too.

These include:

1. Clearing your cookies everytime you search, or browse incognito

2. Subscribe to the airlines newsletters for promos

3. Don't be afraid to mix and match flights from different airlines – I've had cases where this cost me much lesser than flying direct, or with one alone

4. Book travels during off-peak periods (eg. avoid June and Dec holidays)

5. Even certain days are priced lower (weekdays typically cost much lesser)

Just uploaded Part 2 to this article on my blog last night, on how I save on the in-flight frills as well!

These include:

1. Travel Insurance – did you know you can get for free instead of having to pay for one?

2. F&B – eat before you board, pack snacks, and bring a water bottle to refill at the airport boarding lounge before you get on the plane

3. Eye mask / pillow / blanket – seriously? I always just bring my own

But aside from all these, the most important would be the in-flight entertainment, because being stuck up in the air with nothing to do for hours can really kill me lol.

Remember Viu Premium and how it saved me from dying of boredom back in November when I flew to Hanoi? @sgbudgetbabe:010917 and @sgbudgetbabe:091117

I FINALLY got down to comparing all the different entertainment subscriptions (Netflix vs Toggle Prime vs Viu Premium) and have uploaded it on the blog last night!

The results? Viu Premium wins hands down in terms of content, features and affordability.

($14 vs $9.90 vs $5.98 a month, which will you choose? It also helps that I prefer Asian shows esp Korea and China's productions. My friend, on the other hand, uses it for HK shows!)

Hubby and I even got to re-watch Battleship Island on Viu Premium (our cinema tickets cost $11 each cos we watched on a weekend when it first came out in SG lol. That's like…almost half of the discounted Viu Premium price for a whole year and a lot more movies leh)

😍 remember how I dayred about how N and I watched this series throughout our flights + every single night in the hotel? LOL

I'm absolutely OBSESSED with While You Were Sleeping. I must have rewatched the first episode at least 5 times?!?! πŸ˜‚ #kdrama #dayredramas

(disclaimer: #sponsored and the folks gave me free 1-year access to Viu Premium, but even if they don't sponsor me again next year I'm going to buy it myself anyway and #paywithmyownmoney cos it's so freaking worth it. Y'all regulars know my attitude towards sponsored posts alr so I no need rewrite hor haha)

You can see I've been sitting on this post for a really really long time πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ (my excuse: writing the 50+ pages of the Ultimate Cashback Guidebook and doing the SGBB Cashback App was damn time-consuming k lololol)

Each premium account can also be logged onto 3 mobile devices & 1 computer concurrently! So you can technically split the costs further into 4 if you wanted to!

Readers' promo :

Get $10.78 off Viu Premium from now till next Thurs!

Details on the blog. So instead of the regular $71.98 (which is already a steal imo at just $5.98 / month), the Viu team has kindly extended a readers promo for you guys from now till 15 March 2018!

You should now see $61 when you check out, which is approx $5 a month for freaking a lot of dramas, reality shows and movies to keep you accompany at home / on your morning commute / while on flights without having to pay anything extra for their in-flight entertainment access πŸ˜€

$1.30 a month (if you share) – super worth it la!!!!!

My Fav Korean Dramas on Viu

In top spot. Surprise! …not πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. lol my obsession with this show is unhealthy, just about as unhealthy as that for Princess Weiyoung and Sound of the Desert.

And of cos Goblin because it stars my #1 Korean actor of all time + written by my fav Korean scriptwriter. I've fangirled over this a little too much on Dayre when it first got released so I shall shut up for now lololol. @sgbudgetbabe:220117

I wasn't expecting to like this initially but I caught the second half of Channel U and was HOOKED (twin brother kills his elder twin and takes on his life, no one knows except the prosecutor who was trying to take him to charge earlier)

MUST WATCH!

Honestly I'm damn superficial when it comes to my dramas, and my MIL knows cos whenever she jio me to watch a new drama, my first few questions will always be:

1. ζ•…δΊ‹ζ˜―δ»€δΉˆοΌŸ
2. ζœ‰ζ²‘ζœ‰εΈ…ηš„η”·δΈ»θ§’οΌŸ
3. ε₯³δΈ»θ§’ηΎŽε—οΌŸ
4. How many episodes?

Judge me all you want πŸ˜‚πŸ˜πŸ˜‚πŸ˜

Introduced by my girlfriend who only introduces me to shows that she knows I will like. Haha. I'm not done with this yet but am really liking the story so far! It's about a married couple who's on the brink of divorce and hate each other, believing they were foolish and rash to have married as young as they did. By a twist, they go back to their dating days and rediscover why they fell so hard back then, something that they've forgotten over their years of marriage.

BLACK was…mindblowing. It was great in the beginning and at the end, but the middle was too draggy and N fell asleep on various nights when we were chasing it.

Because we have Viu Premium, we watched this on Sunday and Monday night cos the show aired in Korea over the weekend! Access with English subtitles within 8 hours of actual broadcast is a privilege that I like to flaunt in front of my other friends who were chasing this too but had to wait longer cos they had the free version, HAH! 😈

This show is about a girl who can see the shadow of death (and thus the exact moment and how a person will die) + her relationship with a Grim Reaper. Vvvvvvvvvvv compelling but every episode releases just a bit of clues about the actual crime, and if you don't have a good memory it might be worth just skipping the middle and go all the way to the end where they tie all the missing pieces of the jigsaw puzzle together for you!

Another Lee Jung Suk fantasy drama makes the cut! And the female lead in here is super duper chio, it fits all my frivolous drama requirements πŸ˜‚

Story is about an anime character (the guy) and the daughter of his creator. They develop a relationship when she crosses over to his world one day to save him. What's real life and what's fiction? Can people from two worlds surpass the odds and finally be together?

And of course, can't miss this out 😍

Ooh speaking of Kelly Poon, look who I bumped into this evening! 😍

Okay enough of drama obsessing and saving money on budget flights πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚ I'm off now to prepare for my CPF talk tomorrow, remember to say hi (esp before the event starts) if you're coming! I'll be rushing off right after though cos I need to teach tuition πŸ˜…
