I hate scammers with a vengeance. I think they all deserve to have karma come back and bite their ass because they make their living by cheating other people of their hard-earned money, and when the other target is the elderly, this often involves their life savings.
This scam is probably one of the smartest ones I've heard so far. So smart that I can imagine even well-educated folks falling for it.

Don't be so naive to assume the banks will return you the money either.
Here's what happened to my friend's mother. They've been appealing with OCBC for months but to no avail.
This sum was cheated from my friend's mother, who only earns 1k plus a month to support the family. It takes her months of hard work to save up this amount, which was all cruelly taken away by online scammers while she was ASLEEP in the wee hours of the morning.

The next person could be your friend, your parents, or even you. So we really need to be alert! Remember that there are horrible and unethical people out there who have no qualms about stealing your money while they do scamming as a full-time job.
