You can now choose between 99 cents delivery when you pre-order, or get up to 40% off with Saver delivery. Food delivery fees are getting more affordable, but only if you know what to do *wink*
I get it – there are times when we simply need food delivery and might feel deterred by the delivery fees.
This includes occasions such as:
- When the weather is sweltering hot and walking out to dabao means my makeup will melt, no thanks.
- Having an urgent task to clear so I’ll have to eat at my desk
- Bubble tea delivery for the office at tea break
- When I’m hosting a social gathering and don’t want to carry everything home by myself
Luckily, I don’t always have to pay full price on Grab. I’ve been using the Saver delivery option in recent months (see my review here), and recently, I got notified that Grab has just launched a new delivery option – 99¢ Pre-Order Delivery!
Yes, you get to pay just 99 cents when you pre–order by 11am for lunchtime delivery and get your food by 12.30pm. There is no minimum order required either!
That’s not too hard to do – one tip is to order it during your morning commute instead of scrolling TikTok.
Perfect for all of you guys who work in the CBD and would rather not go out in the sweltering sun to jostle with the crowds during lunch hour. You can even order with your colleagues or friends and proclaim generously, “Oh it’s ok, I will treat you guys for the delivery fee!”
Just don’t tell them you used Pre-Order Delivery at 99 cents 😛
Slots for Pre-Order Delivery
Pre-ordering your food in advance is not limited to just lunchtime, as Grab has a few other preorder timeslots as well:
Lunch | Order by 11am | Deliver by 12.30pm |
Teatime | Order by 3pm | Deliver by 4.30pm |
Dinner | Order by 5pm | Deliver by 6.30pm |
You get to beat the crowd and stay in your air-conditioned office, while your Grab delivery drivers get to beat the peak hour traffic as well.
For folks (like myself) who can plan ahead of time, you’re gonna love pre-order delivery because 99¢ is such a good deal!
Pre-order vs. Saver – what’s the difference?
Ok, given that I’ve been using Saver delivery in recent weeks, you’re not the only one who’s wondering what the differences between both delivery options are.
So here’s a quick overview that I put together:
Pre-order | Saver | |
How much? | 99¢ (flat fee!) | Up to 40% off vs. Standard delivery |
When to use? | For lunch, tea or dinner. Order before 11am / 3pm / 5pm | Anytime! |
Who is it for? | Office workers will benefit the most, since you can order even before you even arrive at work and get busy. | Everyone who wants to save on food delivery and doesn’t mind waiting a little longer for your orders |
When is it available? | Weekdays only (at selected locations) | 24/7 |
Stackable with GrabUnlimited vouchers? | Yes! | Yes! |
In essence, both options require you to order in advance and wait a little, but are much cheaper than standard delivery fees.
If you’re someone who likes to settle your food in advance (so you don’t have to worry about it later), then 99¢ Pre-order Delivery would be perfect since you can even order up to a few days in advance.
I can even order in advance for my studio recording next week, instead of us having to fret about what to eat for lunch on the day itself.
You just need to check to confirm whether Pre-Order is available at the location where you’re at (CBD and West-siders e.g. CCK and Bukit Batok) so you can pay the least!
But if you’re more of a spontaneous eater but also ok to wait, then pick Saver delivery whenever you can, so that you save more.
I can still stay within budget even when using food delivery, with a bit of effort and knowing the right hacks such as using Saver delivery on Grab.
I don’t see an option for 99¢ Pre-Order Delivery?
While Grab has rolled out 99¢ Pre-Order Delivery to over 300 locations till date, there are still some areas where this delivery option has yet to expand to.
I tried it at my friend’s place in Bishan for teatime at 2.30pm, and unfortunately only the Saver delivery option showed up since 99¢ Pre-Order Delivery is not available there. However, you can fill out this form here so that Grab will know there’s demand to roll out 99c preorder in your location!
Use 99¢ Pre-Order or Saver delivery whenever you can
If you’re budget-conscious like I am and looking for ways to save whenever you’re ordering food delivery, then you’d want to use either Preorder or Saver delivery on Grab from now on.
Affordable options like these are the cheapest delivery fee we can get on Grab, so if you’ve been feeling that food delivery fees have been getting more expensive but yet you cannot do without it completely, now you know what you can do 😉
